Texas is home to a variety of plants and flowers. Among these different species of flowers are the Texas bluebonnet, Blue Sage and Drummond Phlox.
Texas Bluebonnet
The Texas Bluebonnet, also known as the state flower of Texas, is native to the Eastern and Southern parts of the state. Noted for the bright blue of its color matched with a contrasting white, the Texas bluebonnet can grow to a height of up to two feet. The Texas Bluebonnet is a perennial in the warmer areas and needs access to full sun from growing.
Blue Sage
Native to both Texas and New Mexico, the blue sage is an easy flower to grow. This flower grows as a perennial if planted in warm areas, however for the colder regions it tends to be grown as an annual. Growing up to three feet in height the blue sage features a vivid blue color. This wildflower is adaptable to many different types of soil and needs access to the full sun in order to properly flourish.
Drummond Phlox
The Drummond phlox is native to a small area in the state of Texas most notably the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area. This annual flower blooms with just a few color varieties: red, pink and white. However, it is more common to see the pure red coloring on this flower. This small flower blooms during the mid to late season of the year and can grow up to 1 foot in height. The Drummond phlox is an easy flower to grow and is adaptable to many types of soil. When planting, the flower should be given full sun and an average amount of moisture.
